Berijew A-50 Mainstay

A-50 for GTA SA (NATO codification: Mainstay-redoubt) — aircraft airborne early warning and control.

Created on the basis of military transport IL-76md to Taganrog aviation scientific and technical complex. G. m. Aircraft together with the NGO "Vega-m" and the SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH INSTITUTE of instrument engineering. Together with the radiotehničeskim complex "shmel" installed on it, forms the aviation complex radar picket and guidance a-50. Adopted in 1985. Series production was carried out in Tashkent at the factory. V. P. Chkalov. Was first shown at Maks-95. Participated in military parades May 9, 2009 and 2010, in Moscow.

A-50 can be used for detection and tracking of aerial targets and surface ships, alert command posts of the automated control systems of the armed forces of air and surface conditions used to manage aircraft fighter and strike aircraft when they are aiming at air, land and sea targets, as well as serve as air command.

In service with the Russian air force in the 2009 year is 19 a-50 aircraft.
